Abermawr

Abermawr is a beach in Pembrokeshire with a wide pebble bank and golden sand exposed at low tide, bordered by earthen cliffs and wooded areas. The coastline displays different geological layers and shows how natural erosion patterns have developed over time.

The beach holds remains of a forest that disappeared roughly 8000 years ago when melting ice sheets flooded the coast. These preserved tree stumps mark a critical moment in the story of how this landscape transformed over time.

The beach forms part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, connecting multiple coastal settlements through established walking paths.

Access is via a steep path that becomes slippery in wet weather and requires sturdy footwear. Parking is limited and located on the roadside, so arriving early is wise.

The fossil tree stumps visible at low tide allow visitors to see directly a piece of ancient landscape that lay hidden underwater for thousands of years. This unusual feature makes the beach a living record of coastal change.
