Angus transmitting station, Broadcasting station in Angus, Scotland.
Angus transmitting station is a broadcasting facility in Scotland featuring a steel lattice mast that rises 229.5 meters high. Located between the villages of Charleston and Tealing north of Dundee, the installation delivers television and radio signals across the surrounding region.
The Independent Television Authority constructed this facility in 1965, beginning broadcasts on VHF channel 11 in black and white on October 13. Operations have evolved significantly with the shift toward digital transmission over the decades.
This transmitter serves multiple regions including Dundee City, Perth and Kinross, eastern Angus, and parts of Edinburgh with television and radio broadcasts.
The facility underwent complete digital conversion between 2010 and 2013, replacing all analog services with modern digital broadcasting. Be aware that this is an active industrial site and not open to the public for visits.
The site reaches 547 meters above Ordnance Datum, making it exceptionally tall for broadcasting purposes across eastern Scotland. This elevation gives it a significant advantage for signal distribution over large geographical areas.
