Allington Castle, Medieval castle in Allington, England.

Allington Castle is a stone fortress with six towers positioned irregularly along its curtain wall, set within woodland grounds. The property sits along the Medway River's edge and combines medieval architecture with the natural landscape.

The castle was built in the late 13th century by Stephen de Pencester and incorporated remains of an earlier manor house. Over time, the structure underwent several changes in its use, including a long period as a religious community residence.

The castle served as a seat where powerful families displayed their status and hosted notable guests over the centuries. Visitors walking through its rooms can sense how the lives of the nobility once unfolded within these walls.

The property is now a private residence and event venue, so visits are only possible through organized boat tours. The best way to view the grounds is to book a journey on the Kentish Lady departing from Maidstone town center.

The grounds were once home to a community of religious monks before returning to private ownership. This period of spiritual use left its own mark on the place's history and set it apart from many other English castles.
