Archbishop's Palace, Medieval archbishop's palace in Maidstone, England
The Archbishop's Palace stands on the eastern bank of the River Medway, constructed with local Kentish Ragstone and featuring 14th-century architecture.
Built in 1348 under Archbishop Ufford, the palace served as a strategic residence for archbishops traveling between London and Canterbury until Henry VIII's reign.
The Medieval great hall contains preserved wood paneling, tapestry window dressings, and stone fireplaces that reflect the ecclesiastical heritage of England.
The palace now functions as a register office managed by Kent County Council and opens its doors during scheduled Heritage Days throughout the year.
A small chamber at the rear of the palace held John Ball, who later influenced the Peasant's Revolt of 1381 through his preaching.
