The structure was rebuilt in 1696 by Dr. Gregory Hascard, Dean of Windsor, possibly with involvement from architect John James or Sir Christopher Wren. Following this reconstruction, it served various roles including a Catholic school and wartime operations center before becoming a modern hotel.
