Chelsea Harbour, Mixed-use complex and marina in Sands End, London, United Kingdom
Chelsea Harbour is a large residential and business complex with a modern marina on the Thames in southwest London. The development combines luxury apartments, office space, design showrooms, and a 75-berth marina within a single integrated waterfront setting.
The site operated as a railway coaling dock in the 1800s and later served a gas company before being redeveloped in the 1980s into this residential and commercial complex. This transformation turned a former industrial and dock area into a modern mixed-use neighbourhood.
The Chelsea Harbour Design Centre houses over 70 showrooms across 66,000 square feet, serving as a central hub for interior design professionals.
The site is easily reached via Imperial Wharf station, which connects directly to the development. On-site parking, cafes, and shopping options make it straightforward to spend a few hours here.
Building this complex required driving 2,000 piles deep into London clay and excavating 250,000 cubic meters of earth. This engineering effort made it possible to create a stable structure directly beside the river.
