Clayton Hall is a two-wing manor house built with red brick and timber framing, surrounded by a concrete-lined moat. The building displays multiple periods in its architecture, from medieval foundations to later additions across several centuries.

The site has roots reaching back to the 12th century when an earlier residence stood here under the ownership of the Clayton family. The current structure began in the 15th century and underwent changes across the following ages.

This manor house functions as a living history museum where visitors can observe how people lived during the Victorian period. Historical furnishings and clothing tell the story of daily routines and social habits from an earlier time.

The house is located at Clayton Park on Ashton New Road and opens on specific days for visitors. A small tearoom within the building serves homemade food and refreshments during your visit.
