Cliffs Pavilion

Cliffs Pavilion is a seafront theatre in Westcliff-on-Sea with views across the Thames Estuary and Essex coastline. The auditorium seats around 1600 people and features a large stage for different types of performances.

The theatre opened its doors in 1964 as a new venue for the region and expanded the cultural offerings in Southend-on-Sea. It replaced earlier entertainment options and became part of the town's growing infrastructure.

The auditorium draws visitors from across the region and presents both touring productions and performances by local groups. Many residents have attended shows here for decades and return regularly for different types of events.

The building sits directly on the promenade and can be reached by public transport or car. On-site facilities include a café and bar as well as seating for guests with limited mobility.

Large windows along one side of the building bring natural light into the foyers and frame views of the sea. This architectural feature connects the indoor space with the coastal landscape just outside.
