Church of St Mary, East Brent, Medieval parish church in East Brent, England.
The Church of St Mary is a parish church in East Brent that contains a nave, chancel, north aisle, vestry, south porch, and chapel within its layout. A substantial west tower divides into five separate sections rising above the rest of the structure.
The building was founded in 1401 when the parish established its main place of worship. Major changes came during the 15th century, followed by significant work on the chancel in 1845.
The wooden eagle lectern inside dates to the 15th century and stands as one of the few medieval wooden lecterns left in England. This historic piece shows how the building has kept its original furnishings over the centuries.
This remains an active parish church that holds regular services for the local community within the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Visitors should check opening times and plan visits around scheduled services.
The tower holds six bells, with one cast in 1450 by a Bristol foundry and another made by William Chamberlain of London in 1480. These bells represent over five centuries of the church's ringing tradition.
