Astro Storm, Steel roller coaster in Brean Leisure Park, Somerset, England
Astro Storm is a steel roller coaster with an enclosed track and individual cars that hold three riders arranged in rows with T-bar safety restraints. The track runs through a darkened indoor space and measures around 450 meters, with rides lasting just under ninety seconds.
The ride began its journey in 2008 at Blackpool, where it was known as Space Invader 2, before being relocated to Somerset. After arriving at Brean Leisure Park in 2011, it took on a new name and has operated there since.
The ride takes visitors on a journey through space with strobe lighting, sirens, and cosmic decorations creating the feeling of flight. This darkened path through the attraction with these effects makes the space experience something special for riders.
Visitors should prepare for an intense ride in complete darkness that starts quickly and is punctuated by specialized effects. Access to the coaster is straightforward from the leisure park, and riders should secure any loose items.
German manufacturer Zierer engineered this indoor coaster with specialized lighting techniques that monitor the entire track and make dynamic use of darkness. This combination of motion and light design makes each ride feel like a different experience.
