Eden Camp Museum

Eden Camp Museum occupies the grounds of a former World War II prisoner-of-war camp and displays exhibits in preserved huts from that period. The displays cover military history, wartime experiences, and feature restored vehicles along with specialized equipment from the era.

The site began as a temporary camp in 1942 and was made into a permanent structure in 1943 to hold Italian and German prisoners until 1949. The location was originally intended for a different purpose before it became part of wartime operations.

The site carries traces of its time as a place where people from different nations were held together during wartime. The buildings and objects show how visitors can understand a chapter of shared history through the stories of those who were confined there.

Visitors can move freely around the grounds and explore the different huts where the collections are housed. There is a café on site where you can take a break and get refreshments, and school groups can arrange special visits.

The grounds were originally planned as a potato crisp factory but were never used for that purpose. The idea to turn it into a museum came later after former Italian prisoners expressed a desire to visit the place where they had been held.
