Glenlair, Category B listed country house in Parton, Scotland.

The building features squared whinstone rubble walls with polished red sandstone dressings, complemented by multiple gables and dormers across its structure.

Built in 1830 by Walter Newall for John Clerk Maxwell, the house underwent extensions by James Barbour in 1868 and modifications by Peddie and Kinnear in 1884.

The residence holds connections to physicist James Clerk Maxwell, who conducted fundamental research on electricity and magnetism while residing at this location.

Two water courses, the River Urr and Glenlair Burn, flow through the 120-acre property, which includes 80 acres of grassland and 40 acres of woodland.

The property contains farm buildings with preserved architectural elements from the Victorian era, including specialized stable facilities and through-floor feeding systems.
