The Seaside Museum Herne Bay

The Seaside Museum maintains collections of archaeological findings, fossils spanning 60 million years, and exhibits about regional history across multiple galleries and exhibition spaces.

Founded in 1932 as the Herne Bay Records Society by Dr. Tom Bowes, the museum relocated to its current Georgian building on William Street in 1996.

The museum displays Victorian seaside resort memorabilia, including arcade machines and artifacts that represent traditional British coastal entertainment from past centuries.

Located in Canterbury district, the museum opens Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with admission fees for non-residents while residents enter free.

The museum houses a prototype of the Barnes Wallis Highball bouncing bomb, which underwent testing near the Roman fort at Reculver during World War II.
