Holy Trinity Church, Warrington, Grade II* listed Anglican church in Warrington, England
Holy Trinity Church is a Georgian-style church building featuring sandstone at its front elevation and brick with stone details at the rear. The interior includes galleries and functions as an active Anglican church serving the local community.
This church was built in 1760 to replace an earlier chapel from 1708 as the local parish congregation grew larger. The new building was needed to accommodate the expanding community of the area.
The interior reveals its Georgian character through galleries running along three sides of the space and a Rococo communion table as a focal point. Visitors can see a painting of the Holy Family that replicates Andrea del Sarto's composition, adding to the artistic heritage displayed within.
The church is open for regular worship services and visitors can arrange guided tours to learn about its architectural features and history. It is helpful to check opening times beforehand, particularly if you want a guided experience during your visit.
The clock tower was added in 1862 and designed by Borough Surveyor W. P. Coxon, yet it belongs to the town rather than to the church itself. This unusual arrangement means the timepiece serves the whole community, not just the congregation.
