Lennoxlove House, Category A listed country house in Haddington, United Kingdom.
Lennoxlove House is a Category A listed country house in Haddington, surrounded by wooded grounds in East Lothian. The rectangular stone structure shows enlarged windows and several architectural additions from different periods of its development.
Originally built as a tower house in the 14th century, the estate passed from the Maitland family to Frances Stewart. She gave it the current name Lennoxlove, which has remained ever since.
Inside, paintings by Van Dyck, Raeburn, Lely, and Kneller hang on the walls, accompanied by personal items that once belonged to Mary Queen of Scots and Charles II. This collection connects Scottish history with royal fortunes across several centuries.
Visits require advance booking and are offered as guided tours through the historical rooms and exhibitions. Groups accommodate up to twenty people, allowing for a quiet experience.
The grounds support a herd of White Park Cattle, whose genetics relate directly to the extinct Aurochs. Trees planted by members of the British monarchy also grow here.
