Corn Exchange, Event venue and historic building in Court Street, Haddington, Scotland.
The Corn Exchange is a neoclassical building in Haddington with a symmetrical facade, three bays, a Venetian window, and a pediment carved with a wheat sheaf. Today it stands on Court Street and functions as a venue for performances and events.
The building was erected in 1854 by architect Francis Farquharson and replaced the earlier trading activities held under the Town House arches. It was constructed during a period when the town was modernizing its infrastructure.
The building now functions as a theater space managed by Brunton Theatre Trust, presenting concerts, comedy shows, performances, and film screenings.
Free parking is available at the nearby East Lothian Council offices car park for visitors. Getting there is straightforward using bus routes that connect to Edinburgh and North Berwick.
During a renovation project in 2019, the building temporarily served as a vaccination center before completing its restoration work. This unusual secondary use shows how historic spaces can adapt to current needs.
