The area previously supported a narrow gauge railway system that operated across the moss for the transportation of peat during extraction activities.
The Friends of Lenzie Moss, established in 1985, connects local residents who participate in conservation activities to protect the natural environment.
The reserve features a network of maintained walking paths that remain accessible throughout different weather conditions and seasons.
The reserve preserves extensive peat formations that display visible characteristics from historical cutting practices, creating a distinctive landscape pattern.
