Malator

Malator is a single-family home in Druidston designed with large glass walls facing the haven and a turf-covered roof that blends with the surrounding landscape. The interior follows an open-plan layout with three bedrooms and features prefabricated bathroom pods that were assembled before installation.

The design was created in 1998 by architects Jan Kaplicky and Amanda Levete for a Member of Parliament and his family. This architectural work represented an innovative approach to residential building that merged contemporary design with the natural setting.

Locals call it the Teletubby house because of its rounded shape and grass-covered roof that resembles the television show's setting. This nickname reflects how the distinctive design has become part of the area's everyday conversation.

The location sits in a windy coastal area, so visitors should prepare for changing weather conditions and potentially challenging wind patterns. Access to the property and the best viewing spots vary depending on the season and local tidal conditions.

The windows measure about 12 feet high and are specially engineered to withstand coastal winds reaching around 90 miles per hour. This engineering feat allows unobstructed views of the bay without sacrificing the building's structural integrity.
