Originally established as a dispensary in 1792, the structure underwent four significant expansions between 1871 and 1926 before becoming an infirmary.
The architectural design by Richard Lane incorporates traditional brick and sandstone materials, representing the civic architectural standards of its period.
The building contains 40,000 square feet of office space across multiple floors, currently housing the UK Pension Service department.
The structure required a substantial renovation investment of £4,500,000 in 2002 to transform the medical facility into modern office spaces.
