Our Lady and the Apostles Church, Stockport

Our Lady and the Apostles Church is a Gothic Revival church building located in Edgeley at the intersection of Shaw Heath and Greek Street in Stockport. Architect Edmund Kirby designed this Catholic parish building, constructed between 1903 and 1905 as a replacement for the earlier St. Philip and St. James Church. After the First World War, the sanctuary was redesigned in 1925 to serve as a memorial to local fallen members of the community.

The name reflects a devotional tradition that connects veneration of Mary with that of the apostles, a combination not commonly seen in most churches. Visitors notice how this dual focus shapes the decoration and layout of the interior space.
