Millhouses Park

Millhouses Park is a green space in the River Sheaf valley featuring gardens, sports fields, and recreational areas for outdoor activities. The grounds include tennis courts, a boating lake, sports pitches, and a cafe serving visitors throughout the day.

The grounds were once farmland and industrial sites before being converted to a public park in 1907 when William Wentworth-Fitzwilliam donated part of the land to Sheffield. This transformation marked the shift from industrial use to public leisure space.

The park preserves its Victorian heritage through formal flower gardens, showing how public recreation spaces have evolved over time. Traditional garden design sits alongside modern sports facilities, reflecting changing tastes in outdoor leisure.

The park is easily accessible with broad pathways suitable for all visitors. You can explore the grounds at your own pace or orient yourself using information boards located throughout the site.

Every Saturday morning a free parkrun event takes place here, welcoming people of all fitness levels. The grounds also feature a dedicated sensory garden that engages visitors through plants and landscape design.
