Muirhouse is a residential suburb in northern Edinburgh that consists of housing and green spaces spread across the area bordered by Muirhouse Parkway, Pennywell Road, and Ferry Road. The neighborhood sits alongside Silverknowes to the west and contains a mix of different dwelling types.
The area took its name from an early mansion built on Wardie Muir, which first appeared on Edinburgh maps in 1610. Muirhouse Mansion was constructed in 1832 and became the historical landmark for which the district is named.
