Perth Theatre, Category B listed theatre in High Street, Perth, Scotland
The Victorian auditorium of Perth Theatre accommodates 500 people within its classical architectural design, featuring ornate decorative elements throughout the interior spaces.
William Alexander, the Dundee City Architect, designed Perth Theatre in 1900 as a smaller version of Her Majesty's Theatre in Dundee, replacing an 1820 theatre.
Perth Youth Theatre, established in 1966, became the first theatre-based youth group in Scotland and trained actors including Ewan McGregor and Colin McCredie.
The theatre underwent extensive renovation works completed in 2017, introducing modern facilities while maintaining the original Victorian architectural elements of the building.
Between 1935 and 1936, the theatre produced 51 plays in a single year and organized the first Scottish Theatre Festival in 1939 under Marjorie Dence's direction.
