Perth, King Edward Street, City Hall, Category B listed town hall in Perth, Scotland
Perth City Hall on King Edward Street is a classical building with five symmetrical bays and a portico supported by Ionic columns. Inside, visitors now find museum galleries displaying historical artifacts and collections.
The current building was completed in 1911, replacing an earlier hall from 1844 that served the city's gathering needs. This new structure marked Perth's growing importance in the early 20th century.
The building served as a vital gathering place where the community came together for performances and public events. Visitors can sense how central it was to Perth's social life over many decades.
After extensive renovations that began in 2019, the building reopened as a museum in March 2024. Visitors will find the galleries organized to explore different aspects of local and regional heritage.
The building came close to demolition but was protected by Historic Scotland in 2012. A major investment program saved it from decay and gave it a new purpose as a cultural venue.
