Greyfriars Burial Ground, Medieval cemetery in Perth, Scotland

The rectangular burial ground features paths dividing it into eastern and western sections, containing numerous carved gravestones from different historical periods.

Established in 1580 when St John's Kirk cemetery reached capacity, the site previously hosted a Franciscan friary founded in 1496.

The cemetery holds a collection of stones displaying carved symbols representing mortality and the trades of buried individuals from the 1700s and 1800s.

Visitors can enter through the north gate from Canal Street or the east gate from Tay Street, with paths maintained for easy navigation.

Thirteen of the earliest gravestones, including the Buchan Stone from 1580, are preserved under a protective roof at the southern end.
