Description
St Mary's Church is a parish building with a three-stage tower reinforced at the corners by buttresses and built from local stone and flint. The roof is covered in plain clay tiles sloped at a gentle angle across the entire structure.
History
The building was founded around 1101 and received multiple structural changes between the 12th and 15th centuries. These alterations included extensions to the main body and choir area that gradually enlarged the structure.
Culture
Inside are medieval artworks including a wall painting of Saint Michael from the 14th century and an octagonal baptismal font from earlier times. These pieces show how churches in this region guided worshippers through images and sacred objects.
