Two Tree Island, Nature reserve in Leigh-on-Sea, England

Two Tree Island is a nature reserve along the Thames Estuary consisting of reclaimed marshland with walking trails and bird observation points throughout the site. Several viewing structures are spread across the grounds to help visitors spot different bird species in their natural habitats.

The land formed naturally in the Thames Estuary during the 1700s and was first used for grazing livestock. During the 20th century it became a landfill site before being reclaimed as a nature reserve.

The Essex Wildlife Trust manages this protected area, focusing on preserving natural habitats and maintaining bird sanctuaries for numerous species.

Access the site via marked walking trails that connect different sections of the reserve and lead to viewing areas. Wear weatherproof clothing and sturdy footwear since paths can be wet and muddy depending on recent rainfall.

Crumbling military fortifications from World War One remain hidden in the eastern section, remnants of coastal defense structures that once protected the area. These aged structures are now colonized by small creatures and blend into the natural landscape.
