Hadleigh Castle, Medieval ruins in Castle Point, England.

Two towers and stone walls remain on a hilltop overlooking the Thames Estuary, revealing elements of thirteenth-century military architecture.

Hubert de Burgh constructed the fortification in 1230 under Henry III's reign, using it as a statement of power until disputes led to land forfeiture.

John Constable immortalized the ruins in his 1829 oil painting, now displayed at the Yale Center for British Art in Connecticut.

The castle grounds connect to Hadleigh Country Park, with parking facilities and walking paths providing access to the medieval remains.

Land instability caused the collapse of multiple sections, including the south wall and northeast tower, within the first hundred years of construction.
