Tagg's Island, River island in Hampton, England
The six-acre Tagg's Island sits on the River Thames between Bushy Park and Hurst Park, featuring a central lagoon measuring 400 meters long.
The land, initially called Walnut Tree Ait, became Kent's Ait in 1850 when Francis Jackson Kent purchased it and removed basket-making families.
Writer J.M. Barrie spent time on the island in the 1880s, incorporating elements of the location into his early literary works.
The island connects to the Middlesex bank through a single-track road bridge, making it the only car-accessible island on the non-tidal Thames.
During World War II, AC Cars transformed the former entertainment venue into a manufacturing facility, marking a shift from leisure to industrial use.
