War Memorial Park, Memorial park and Grade II listed garden in Coventry, England.
War Memorial Park is a 48.5 hectare landscaped area with gardens, sports facilities, and memorial spaces in southern Coventry, anchored by a 27-meter tower at its center. The grounds include walking paths, open lawns, and distinct zones designed for various activities.
The park opened in July 1921 to honor about 2,600 Coventry residents who died in World War I, with the land acquired through public donations. It was designed from the start as a place for remembrance and collective mourning.
The central tower holds a Chamber of Silence where names of those lost are recorded, alongside bronze plaques honoring local recipients of valor. Visitors pause here to reflect on individual stories of sacrifice.
The park is accessible from several roads, with parking areas at Kenilworth Road, Coat of Arms Bridge Road, and Leamington Road. Park and ride services are also available to make arrival easier.
The park received Centenary Fields designation in 2014 from Prince William, becoming the first memorial space protected under this national program. This recognition secured its long-term protection and status as a place of remembrance.
