Welsh Presbyterian Church, Gothic Revival church in Toxteth, Liverpool, England.
The Welsh Presbyterian Church on Princes Road is a Gothic Revival structure with a tall spire and textured stone walls. Inside, the space is divided by marble-columned galleries beneath a barrel vault ceiling.
Built between 1865 and 1867 by architects W. and G. Audsley, the building rose as the tallest structure in Liverpool at the time. It was erected to serve the growing Welsh population settling in the city.
This church served as the gathering place for Liverpool's Welsh community and shaped the identity of the neighborhood. Street names in the area still reflect this Welsh heritage today.
The building is currently closed to visitors, but you can view the exterior from the street to see the Gothic Revival architecture. Walking around the surrounding streets offers different perspectives of the tall spire.
The abandoned building contains intricate marble detailing and complex roof structures that reveal the care taken in its original design. These interior features are largely unseen today, known mainly to historians and architectural specialists.
