Kilgraston School, Catholic boarding school in Bridge of Earn, Scotland
Kilgraston School was a Catholic girls' boarding school in Dunbarney, south of Perth, housed in a former mansion set within extensive grounds. The site included a range of sports facilities, an indoor swimming pool, and an equestrian centre alongside the main school buildings.
The Society of the Sacred Heart opened the school in 1930 in a mansion that had previously served as a hospital during World War I. It remained one of the few Catholic girls' schools in Scotland for nearly a century before closing in 2024.
Kilgraston was part of a worldwide network of Sacred Heart schools, which brought together girls from many different countries. This international character shaped daily life on campus and was noticeable in the mix of students and traditions.
The grounds lie in the countryside south of Perth and are easiest to reach by car. The school closed in 2024, so visitors should check in advance whether access to the site is possible before making the journey.
When closure was announced, parents and supporters raised over one million pounds in just four days in an attempt to save the school. That effort was not enough to reverse the decision, and the school shut its doors in 2024.
