Eastbrookend Country Park

Eastbrookend Country Park, Nature reserve in London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, England.

Eastbrookend Country Park is a nature reserve covering 84 hectares with different habitats including wetlands, woodlands, and grasslands near the River Rom. The varied terrain creates spaces where plants and wildlife can grow and thrive in their natural state.

The site was once derelict and abandoned but transformed into a landscaped park through major earth-moving projects. It opened to the public in 1995 and has since become an important natural space in what was once an industrial area.

The park offers a place where local people watch birds and wildlife in their natural surroundings and take part in nature-based learning. Educational programs held here help visitors understand the different habitats and the life they support.

The park is easy to walk around with pathways connecting different areas and habitats throughout the site. A center at the park provides facilities, and a fishing lake is available year-round for those interested in fishing.

More than 50,000 small trees were planted during the park's creation to establish new woodland areas in this formerly industrial part of London. This large-scale planting completely changed the landscape from bare land into a forested space.
