Parc Howard Museum, History museum in Llanelli, Wales
Parc Howard Museum is a history museum in Llanelli housed in a Victorian Italianate mansion. The building features two floors of exhibition space with large galleries and a grand wooden staircase throughout.
The building began as the Bryn-y-caerau estate but was redesigned in 1882 when James Buckley-Wilson added the Italianate section. This renovation gave it the architectural style it retains today.
The ground floor galleries show Llanelli's past through interactive displays that engage visitors of different ages. The rooms tell stories of local industry and the lives of people who lived here.
The museum sits on Felinfoel Road without on-site parking, but offers a gift shop with local products and a café with indoor and outdoor seating. Allow time to explore both floors and view the exhibitions at a relaxed pace.
The museum displays the original Stepney spare wheel, an invention that started in this region. It also holds a collection of Llanelly Pottery from the 19th century, showing what locally made ceramics looked like during that era.
