Woolsington Hall, Grade II* listed country house in Woolsington, England
Woolsington Hall is a stone manor house characterized by painted ashlar dressings, Lake District slate roofing, gabled end walls, and multiple window bays arranged across two storeys. The structure displays the architectural style typical of substantial country residences from its period of construction.
The hall was built during the third quarter of the 17th century and served as a residence for the Bell family. Documentary records confirm the family's occupation of the property through the 18th century.
The estate includes several Grade II listed structures, including stables, a coach house, an orangery, and a walled garden spanning 92 acres.
The hall lies northwest of Newcastle city centre near the airport, accessible by local roads through the surrounding area. Visitors should approach from outside given the building's current condition and restoration needs.
The entrance gates from Newcastle United's football stadium were temporarily stored on the grounds in 2013 during renovations. This brief episode connected the country house to the city's sporting history in an unusual way.
