Bedfont Lakes Country Park, Country park and nature reserve in Hounslow, Greater London, England.
Bedfont Lakes Country Park is a nature reserve in Hounslow with multiple lakes, wetlands, woodlands, and meadows that create different living spaces for wildlife. The variety of landscapes supports hundreds of plant species and numerous animals and bird populations.
The land was originally a working farm and later underwent gravel quarrying in the 1800s. After decades of use as a dumping site it was eventually restored and became a protected natural area.
Locals and visitors use the park as a place to connect with nature through watching birds and exploring seasonal changes in plants and wildlife. People return regularly to enjoy the different habitats that attract ducks, swans, and other creatures throughout the year.
The park can be entered from Bedfont Road and Clockhouse Lane and has toilets and drinking fountains throughout. Sturdy shoes are a good idea as paths can be wet and muddy, especially after rain.
At the highest point of the park stands a stone pillar dating from around the year 2000 that displays distances to nearby towns and landmarks. This spot is often overlooked but offers visitors a view over the surrounding area and a chance to check distances to familiar places.
