St Beuno's Church, Parish church in Berriew, Wales.
St Beuno's Church is a red brick parish church with stone dressings located in Berriew, Wales. The building features pointed Gothic windows, a western tower topped with pinnacles, and an interior layout that includes a nave, side aisles, and a chancel.
The church dates back to medieval times, being recorded in the Norwich Taxation of 1254. It underwent major reconstruction in 1803 by architect John Hiram Haycock and again in 1876 by his son Edward Haycock Jr., transforming its appearance.
The church bears the name of Celtic saint Beuno, who received land in Aberhiew from Mawn ap Brochwel to establish this religious site.
The church is accessible to visitors and contains several areas to explore inside, from the main worship space to smaller decorative features. Plan your visit during daylight hours to see the architectural details and churchyard monuments clearly.
Inside the church stands an eagle-shaped lectern, an uncommon decorative piece that draws the eye. The lychgate in the churchyard was built as a memorial in 1933, reflecting how the community chose to honor the past.
