Cavalry of the Empire, Military memorial in Hyde Park, London, England

The bronze equestrian statue of St George stands on a Portland stone pedestal, with a dragon at the feet of the mounted figure.

Field Marshal John French and the Prince of Wales inaugurated this memorial on May 21, 1924, to commemorate cavalry regiments from World War I.

The memorial displays a bronze plaque listing 150 cavalry units from different nations, representing the international scope of military service.

The statue was cast using metal from guns captured by cavalry forces during World War I, incorporating actual military artifacts into its construction.
