The Lanesborough, Five-star hotel in Westminster, England
The Lanesborough sits at Hyde Park Corner in a historic 18th-century building and offers 93 rooms furnished in Regency style. The interiors display handcrafted details including silk curtains, gilded mirrors, and marble bathrooms in every room.
The structure opened in 1719 as a hospital and served medical purposes for over two centuries before closing in the early 1990s. Architect James Wyatt led the conversion into a luxury hotel, which opened in 1991 while preserving the neoclassical facade.
The wine cellar beneath the building stores over 3,000 bottles, including rare Bordeaux vintages and historic ports that guests can explore with guidance from sommeliers. The rooms display original ceiling plasterwork and handcrafted wood paneling restored to match historical Regency-period examples.
Each guest receives a personal butler who assists with unpacking, presses clothing, and prepares baths on request, with service available around the clock. The entrance sits directly opposite Hyde Park, so the green spaces are reachable on foot within a few minutes.
In the restaurant, the chef uses daily changing ingredients delivered directly from small producers and family-run operations across Britain. The room furnishings include hand-embroidered bed linens and pillows crafted in British workshops following traditional patterns.
