New Bridewell Tower, Student accommodation building in Central Bristol, England.
New Bridewell Tower is a 16-story residential building for students in central Bristol housing around 500 rooms. Ground-level commercial spaces open onto a public square that helps connect different parts of the neighborhood.
This building was completed in 2016 and replaced the former New Bridewell Police headquarters that occupied the site from the 1970s. The site's transformation began several years earlier when concrete footbridges were removed to open up the area.
The public square in front of the tower creates new pathways through the city center and links to the historic courthouse next door. Students and locals pass through this space regularly as part of their daily routes.
The main public access is through the square on the south side of the building, which serves as a pedestrian route through the center. Keep in mind that this is primarily student housing, so most interior spaces are not open to the general public.
The tower's smooth glass and metal facade stands apart from the older brick buildings surrounding it in the city center. Its height makes it a visible landmark from several vantage points across Bristol's core.
