Staines Town Hall, Grade II listed town hall in Market Square, Staines-upon-Thames, England.
Staines Town Hall is a Renaissance building with white brick walls and stone details facing Market Square in Staines-upon-Thames. The structure features five bays across its front and a clock tower above the roofline, with a central porch supported by Tuscan columns.
The current structure was completed in 1880 and replaced a medieval market hall that had stood on the site. The previous building held historical importance as a location where significant legal proceedings took place in 1603.
The building served as a filming location for the 1982 movie Gandhi and hosted performances by The Who and The Yardbirds in the 1960s.
The building is easy to spot from Market Square in the town center of Staines. Visitors should note that it now contains residential apartments and is not open for public access inside.
The clock above the building was made by Gillett & Bland, a respected British clockmaker from the 19th century. This choice reflects the quality of craftsmanship applied to the building's details during its construction.
