Philadelphia International Airport, International airport in Philadelphia, United States
Philadelphia International Airport is a major commercial hub in Tinicum Township near the city, with seven passenger terminals offering 130 gates for both domestic and overseas connections. The terminals carry letter designations from A to F and spread across the grounds with separate zones for different types of flights.
The facility opened in 1940 and grew over the decades into one of the main hubs in the Delaware Valley. The site expanded steadily to meet rising passenger numbers and shifting needs in air travel.
Throughout the terminals, works by regional artists line the walls and walkways, visible to passengers moving between gates. These rotating displays show how the city brings its creative community into the daily rhythm of air travel.
A direct train links the grounds to downtown and runs regularly throughout the day. Those who prefer other options will find buses, taxis and ride services right outside the terminals.
Terminal A-West gathers nearly all overseas flights except those to Canada in one place, simplifying connections for international travelers. Terminal F, by contrast, serves only regional routes operated by American Airlines Express.
