Rate Field, Baseball stadium in South Side, Chicago, United States.
Rate Field is a baseball stadium in South Side, Chicago, that seats 40,615 spectators across six levels and includes wheelchair-accessible seating throughout the facility. The venue spans several blocks and features wide concourses, open areas behind the stands, and large scoreboards visible from many seats.
The stadium opened in 1991 as Comiskey Park and replaced the old ballpark that had been used since 1910. The new facility went up directly across from the original site and later took the name Guaranteed Rate Field.
The ballpark offers a 15,000-square-foot instruction area with batting cages and pitching nets where children can practice during games. This space sits in the upper level and gives young visitors the chance to swing a bat and throw a ball while professional players compete below.
The facility has 38 public restrooms, 12 escalators, and 13 elevators that connect all levels. Several parking areas are reachable from the Dan Ryan Expressway, and entrances are spread around the perimeter.
A marble plaque and painted foul lines on the parking lot mark the exact spot where the old Comiskey Park home plate once sat. Visitors can stand there and imagine Babe Ruth or other legends playing at that very position.
