Bechtler Museum of Modern Art, Modern art museum in Charlotte, United States
The 36,500-square-foot building features a soaring glass atrium extending through its core, with natural light illuminating the four-story structure throughout the day.
The museum opened in 2010 after Andreas Bechtler donated his family's collection, which began in 1950 when brothers Hans and Walter Bechtler started visiting Kunsthaus Zürich.
The collection comprises over 1,400 artworks representing European, American, and British artists, including pieces by Alberto Giacometti, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso.
Located at 420 South Tryon Street in downtown Charlotte, the museum offers Jazz performances on the first Friday of each month.
The building, designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta, includes a fourth-floor gallery that extends from the core, supported by a single column rising from the plaza.
