Two Wells Fargo Center, Office skyscraper in Uptown Charlotte, United States
Two Wells Fargo Center is a 32-story office tower in uptown Charlotte, reaching about 132 meters tall. The building connects to neighboring towers through the Overstreet Mall pedestrian network, forming part of a linked downtown complex.
The tower opened in 1971 under the name Jefferson First Union Tower and was North Carolina's tallest building at that time. As new towers rose in Charlotte over the following decades, it gave way to taller structures.
The building has a light-filled atrium and a street-level plaza that serve as meeting points for office workers and visitors in Charlotte's financial district. These open spaces connect the tower to the daily life of the surrounding Uptown area.
The tower is located in central Charlotte and easy to reach on foot from most of Uptown. An on-site parking structure and direct access to the Overstreet Mall network allow visitors arriving by car or on foot to move between buildings without going outside.
The 13th floor of the building is reserved entirely for mechanical systems and is not accessible as office space. This approach of hiding building infrastructure on a dedicated floor appears in several American office towers from the same era.
