Bank of America Financial Center, Financial center in Charlotte, United States.
The Bank of America Financial Center is a financial tower in Charlotte, North Carolina and rises to a height of 265 meters (869 feet). The structure consists of 88 floors and is served by 36 elevators.
The tower was completed in 1992 following designs by architect César Pelli and symbolized the rise of Charlotte as a financial center. Construction marked a turning point in the development of the city skyline.
Three large frescoes by artist Ben Long from North Carolina decorate the lobby and show everyday themes inside a banking tower. These wall paintings rank among the largest secular frescoes of their kind in the entire country.
The center houses banking services and corporate offices and connects through a covered walkway system with retail shops to Founders Hall. The lobby is accessible to visitors and displays artwork.
Workers discovered gold fragments in the granite foundation during construction and recalled the first gold rush era of America in this region. Charlotte was the center of this early gold search in the 19th century.
