Skye

Skye is a 22-story mixed-use high-rise in downtown Charlotte at the corner of Caldwell and Third Streets. The building holds 69 residential condominiums, a hotel with 172 rooms, ground-floor retail space, and rooftop amenities including a swimming pool and fitness center.

The site was previously home to the Charlotte National Building that stood from 1985. The new development passed through several owners and encountered difficulties before reaching completion.

The building shows design elements from the former First Citizens Bank building, with classical Greek temple influences visible in its reconstructed exterior. These architectural details shape how the space looks and connect it to the area's older structures.

The building sits in the heart of the downtown business district and is easily walkable from nearby cafes and shops. Parking is available in the vicinity, and public transit connections make it simple to explore the surrounding area.

The building incorporates authentic architectural features from the demolished predecessor structure, preserving a piece of the city's older identity. This reuse of design elements makes it an uncommon example of how new construction can honor what came before.
