The site is open during daylight hours with marked trails allowing visitors to explore while maintaining conservation standards. Wear sturdy footwear and come prepared for wet, uneven ground.
This site is the southernmost sphagnum heath bog in New England with peat deposits exceeding 15 meters in depth. The extreme conditions create an isolated habitat supporting specialized plant species found nowhere else in the region.
