Norfolk Country Club, Private country club in Norfolk, Connecticut.
Norfolk Country Club is a private golf club with a nine-hole course and a clubhouse designed in Georgian Revival style. The main building features round columns and gabled dormers, with the facility occupying about 36 acres that also includes tennis courts and dining areas.
The U-shaped wooden clubhouse was designed by architect Alfredo S.G. Taylor between 1915 and 1917. The golf course was added in 1928 under the design of A.W. Tillinghast.
The National Register of Historic Places recognizes this country club for its architectural value and its role in developing suburban recreation activities.
The property is not open to the public, as it serves only members and their guests. The location at Golf Drive provides a clear reference point for those familiar with the surrounding area.
Two symmetrical brick chimneys frame the bends of the U-shaped structure at the corners. The western facade opens directly onto the golf course, creating a seamless visual connection between the building and the landscape.
