The Beckley Furnace features a stone structure measuring 40 feet in height with a base of 30 feet per side, narrowing to 20 feet at its summit.
John Adam Beckley constructed this iron production furnace in 1847, which operated continuously until 1919 as part of the Upper Housatonic Valley industrial network.
The monument represents the industrial heritage of Connecticut through its preserved blast furnace, demonstrating 19th-century iron manufacturing methods and technology.
The 12-acre state park offers year-round access during daylight hours, with guided tours available on Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM during summer months.
The site includes three historic dams along the Blackberry River, with remnants of multiple furnaces and substantial slag mounds visible on the riverbank.
